Every month, I go through Diamond's Previews to figure out what I want.
From now until, I will blog about what I see that catches my attention.
Keep in mind that most of my comic buying consist of #1s, collected
editions (hardcovers or TPBs), or OGN (original graphic novels). I buy
#1s to see if it's something that I will get later in a collected
Every thing else
Because Marvel is still outside of the main Previews book, I started with them and now it's on to everyone else.
Page 28: Solomon Kane : Death's Black Riders #1
A new Robert E. Howard based series means I'll be buying a new collection in a couple months. I enjoyed the previous series (The Castle of the Devil) and this story takes places right where that one left off.
Page 29: Conan the Cimmerian #18
Let me just go on record by saying that I hate Joe Linsner's Conan covers.
Page 34: Blacksad
I've heard of Blacksad many times over the years and have always been interested in reading it. Now it's in English and I can finally read it! You should too.
Page 37: Hellboy: The Wild Hunt
I stopped buying Hellboy TPBs in favor the HC collections, but I don't know if I can wait until the HC catch up in order to read the new material. Maybe just maybe, I can find it cheap enough to justify reading it now rather than later.
There is a lot of Blackest Night stuff and I'm skipping all that. I'm so tired of crossovers taking over the entire output of a company. However, it is nice to see some cancelled series return even if it's just for one issue.
Once again, I've managed to go through the entire DC universe main titles without finding something to pique my interests.
Page 97: Planetary Vol 4 HC
This is a no-brainer, but it now means that I have to seek out volumes 1-3 as well. I gave up on this series a long time ago, but now that it's finished, I want to read it as a whole.
Page 98: Astro City: The Dark Age Book 4 #1
I'm not enjoying the Dark Age books as much as everything that came before it, but thanks to Busiek and Company, Astro City is still one of the best superhero reads.
Page 102: World of Warcraft: Horde 1, Alliance #26
It seems as thought Warcraft is doing well enough to split into 2 series. I'm interested to see how the Horde series will be different than the Alliance series. I'm excited to see Neil Googe and Pop Mhan as artists on these series.
Page 108: Joe the Barbarian #1 Vertigo is a lot more successful than DC in getting me to try new series. I'm very interested to see where Morrison takes this series.
Page 132: Orc Stain #1 I like fantasy comics and I'm very interested in seeing what Stokoe can deliver.
Page 138: Savage Dragon #156 I usually avoid all spoiler material in Previews for Savage Dragon. I enjoy the twists and turns that Erik Larsen brings. I'm not sure why there is a Trimpe cover.
Page 145: Invincible: The Ultimate Collection Vol 5 HC
Yay! Invincible is my favorite ongoing superhero comic.
Page 148: The Walking Dead Book 5 HC
I still need to purchase all the earlier volumes, but it'll be nice to sit down and be able to read a large chunk of this series.
Page 157: Underground #5 (of 5)
I hope the end of this series means that a collection is coming soon. I love Jeff Parker and I love Steve Leiber.
Page 178: Chimichanga #2
More Eric Powell craziness. I can't wait.
Page 184: Tumor HC
I love ... love .. love Archaia and Fialkov and Tuazon!
Page 233: Kazu Kibuishi's Copper GN
I love Copper and follow it religiously. It's the basis for my desire to get back to doing Thomas. This is my must buy for the month. I'm definitely getthing this in HC format. If you haven't read Copper go to Bolt City now and read it. Go NOW!
Page 242: The Wizard's Tale
I remember buying this years ago in softcover format. I'm not sure what happened to it, but I remember it being beautiful and it's written by Busiek.
